Chicago TV station WMAQ obtained frightening video of an incident at a traffic light in which three people jumped out of a vehicle and started firing into a car.
The incident occurred last week in Chicago’s Chatham neighborhood around 10:30 a.m.
The video elicited thousands of comments online and reinforced the violence that plagues the city and puts ordinary citizens in jeopardy.
“I see one guy getting out of the backseat with a rifle,” Pereznegron told the station. “I really didn’t think too much of it, because I didn’t think it was real, until the second person got out, then I saw him with another gun.”
Incredibly, Pereznegron didn’t even flinch during the incident, instead he focused on ducking down to ensure that he would not be hit by any stray bullets.
“I wanted to reverse, but I was kind of trapped,” Pereznegron said. “I really couldn’t go anywhere. I was stuck,” he said. “All that I was thinking, hoping the other guys were not going to shoot back towards us.”
The station reports that Chicago Police have launched an investigation, but so far no arrests have been made.
