The workplace culture at Fox News will cost the network a $1 million penalty amid an investigation by the New York City Commission on Human Rights.
According to a statement made by the commission, the investigation into Fox News comes from a “series of high-profile reports” claiming a culture of sexual harassment and retaliation.
“We are pleased to reach an amicable resolution of this legacy matter,” a spokesperson for Fox News Media told The Hill.
“FOX News Media has already been in full compliance across the board, but cooperated with the New York City Commission on Human Rights to continue enacting extensive preventive measures against all forms of discrimination and harassment.”
The Daily Beast reports that after allegations of sexual misconduct with female employees by ex-chairman and CEO Roger Ailes, the commission began investigating in 2016.
As part of the settlement, Fox agreed to waive forced arbitration for cases regarding violations of human rights law in agreements executed with employees for four years.
Furthermore, the network must hold frequent sexual harassment and prevention training for its New York City employees.
