Spotify podcaster Joe Rogan, who received a whopping $100 million deal from the platform, is the subject of an explosive Insider report detailing complaints from staffers who feel like Rogan’s show is transphobic.
The report details how employee complaints have fallen on deaf ears. One Spotify staffer said a “loud minority of people are outraged with Rogan.”
Rogan’s style has sent shockwaves through the company. In April, Barrett News Media reported that Spotify purged more than 40 episodes of the show from its site.
“I’m personally bothered by his transphobic comments and am concerned with the way he might spread misinformation,” one Spotify employee wrote last fall on an internal networking channel on the app Fishbowl, Insider reported Tuesday.
A total of 10 meetings were reportedly held last September about Rogan’s show, Spotify CEO Daniel Ek told Vice.
Some Joe Rogan Experience staffers sought to receive editorial supervision for the show but were denied by the company. Rogan retweeted a video mocking the employees for being oversensitive.
