In March, Sharon Osbourne left the CBS talk show “The Talk,” following an on-air dispute with co-host Sheryl Underwood. The next month, Underwood released a three-part podcast where she discussed the departure of Osborne.
Now it appears the network may have found Osborne’s replacement with a few months having gone by since her departure. The Wrap reports that Jerry O’Connell is nearing a deal to become a full-time co-host for “The Talk.”
The report adds that discussions between the actor and talk show have been on and off since May. CBS has declined to comment on these reported negotiations.
O’Connell is a regular guest on the show, but should he reach an agreement to join full-time, he’d become the first male co-host. There are no further details on what O’Connell is looking for in a possible deal or what the talk program is offering the actor.
Ratings for the show have been on the decline before Osborne departed, and the talk show might hope that O’Connell provides a boost.
