KFI AM Radio Duo Nominated for the Radio Hall of Fame

Southern California radio hosts John Kobylt and Ken Chiampou have been nominated for the Radio Hall of Fame. The duo reacted to the news Monday during their afternoon show on KFI AM 640.

“This year we are in a different category and we are not going to be annoying you,” said Kobylt. This year’s vote is based on 600 industry voters. We are under the category of Long-Standing Local/Regional (20 years or more).”

The duo came to KFI in 1992, replacing former Los Angeles Police Department Chief Daryl Gates. In 1999, John and Ken left KFI and went across town to 790 KABC. They returned two years later for good.

Inductees will be announced Monday, August 16, and honored in-person at the 2021 Radio Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Thursday, October 28, 2021, at Chicago’s Wintrust Grand Banking Hall.

There are several talk radio hosts being nominated in this year’s class including nationally syndicated hosts Kim Komando, Larry Elder, and Sally Jesse Raphael.
