Politico reporter Carla Marinucci joined The Mark Thompson Show on KGO 810 Wednesday to discuss California gubernatorial candidate Larry Elder.
Elder is one of 46 candidates vying to replace Gov. Gavin Newsom in the Sept 14 recall election.
“Larry Elder has had a fanbase among conservative radio folks in Southern California for a long time,” said Marinucci. “But he’s never been elected to public office and he’s never been publicly vetted.”
Marinucci said the voting public doesn’t know a lot about Elder including his finances or his personal life.
“He hasn’t done a lot of sit-down interviews where he has outlined some of these issues,” said Marinucci. “We have had him numerous times to sit-down with Politico but no answer on that.”
Last week, Barrett News Media reported that Larry Elder opted out of a debate hosted by his Salem Radio Network colleague Hugh Hewitt.
“He is doing a Zoom press conference Friday, “Marinucci said. “But public events, no we are not seeing those.”
Thursday, Elder spoke at a rally in San Jose where he promised to repeal COVID mandates.
