Field Of Dreams Game Wins Thursday Ratings

FOX and Major League Baseball won big on Thursday night. The Yankees and White Sox put on a hell of a show in the Field of Dreams Game. The game won rave reviews from fans at it looks like it was way more than just a social media phenomenon.

According to TV Line, FOX won the night in the ratings. Looking at the overnight numbers, more than 5.2 million people tuned in to watch the White Sox beat the Yankees on an Iowa cornfield. The next closest show on network TV was CBS’s Big Brother, which grabbed 4.6 million viewers. FOX scored a 1.3 rating in the target demo.

The Field of Dreams Game is not the most watched Major League Baseball game of 2021 though. The leagues last major event, the All-Star Game, had more viewers, posting an average audience of 8.237 million.

Compared to regular season games though, Thursday night’s game was a monster. Viewership was more than double the previous season high, which was 2.59 million for the Red Sox and Phillies.

Rob Manfred promised that Major League Baseball would be coming back to Iowa in the future and it is easy to see why. The only question would be can MLB count on the stars aligning again to give us a Hollywood ending in a Hollywood setting.
