Report: Rachel Maddow to Earn $30M per Year in New Deal With MSNBC

This week reports surfaced that Rachel Maddow had reached an agreement to extend her contract with MSNBC. Furthermore, details of what will be in the anchor’s contract, which will kick in sometime next year, are also beginning to trickle out.

As part of her new contract, the MSNBC anchor will be participating in new projects for NBC Universal. Furthermore, a CNN report reveals that Maddow plans to transition from hosting a nightly show to a weekly one.

Now another detail is being shared, and that’s the financial aspects of her new contract. The Daily Beast reports that Maddow will be making $30 million per year and the length of the deal sees her remain with the network through the 2024 presidential election.

However, The Wrap cited a close source who denied the reported salary but declined the offer to state what Maddow will earn annually in her new deal. “It’s completely inaccurate, and I’m shocked that anyone would publish that. It’s just not true,” the source said.

Nonetheless, The Daily Beast did confirm the information through four people close to the situation.

  1. $30 million or so per year? And to not host a nightly tv show as she has done for 10+ years! Sounds like she is getting a sports players contract – paying $$$$ for what one already has done, not for what they still can do.
    Absurd $$$!
