WLS 890 AM has promoted technical producer and podcast manager Bret Gogoel to Executive Producer of The John Howell Show. Gogoel replaces Mallory Vor Broker who was elevated to on-air reporter covering city hall politics.
“I couldn’t be more excited to step into the big shoes left by Mallory and work with Mallory and work with a consummate professional like John Howell,” said Gogoel. “I hope to take everything I have learned from my time here at WLS and continue to put out a top-notch product.”
The John Howell Show is a daily, three-hour program which airs from 4pm–7pm. Howell has been a fixture in the Windy City radio scene for 30 years. In January, WLS extended the show an hour.
“Bret has also been an integral ‘pinch-hitter’ producer who has regularly filled in to produce drive time programs,” said WLS Program Director, Stephanie Tichenor. “He is the perfect fit for our afternoon drive team.”
Gogoel has been with WLS since 2017. He also served as a play-by-play announcer for the Windy City Bulls basketball team. He holds a BBA degree in Finance from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
