Staffers Share Concerns Over MSNBC’s Direction Under New President

There is growing concern about the direction of MSNBC under the guidance of its new President Rashida Jones, according to The New York Post.

Staffers are reportedly concerned about an impending battle with CNN whereas management is not focused enough on the network’s primetime talk lineup, according to the report.

“Rashida’s love is in hard news,” an insider said, pointing to the exec’s past roles guiding MSNBC’s daytime news coverage and NBC News’ coverage. “She doesn’t really get what primetime does.”

The worries center on the near departure of star Rachel Maddow who recently negotiated a new deal. The deal is reportedly worth $30 million and runs through 2024 and will allow her to develop shows across the network.

Jones is the first Black executive to run a major cable news network.
