77 WABC to Celebrate Its 100th Year of Broadcasting This Month

New York City’s legendary 77 WABC is commemorating 100 years of broadcast excellence this month with special guests, interviews, and features.

Red Apple MediaCEO John Catsimatidis, whose company purchased the station last year, said listenership has grown substantially this year.

“With 50,000 watts of clear channel power, 77 WABC represents the many and diverse communities in New York and America with a commonsense approach to the issues that confront our world, along with music and entertainment on the weekends.”

During this special occasion, listeners will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite past WABC air personality into the station’s Hall of Fame.

Additionally, WABC will rebroadcast Rush Limbaugh’s first 77 shows on the station.

Catsimatidis said the station will work hard to honor its past and look forward to the future.

“Looking forward to the next 100 years, we’re reaching our listeners on every available platform — broadcast, podcast, streaming, and mobile — and we’re thinking beyond radio.”

“We’ve built a state-of-the-art audio/visual facility, which we call Studio 77,” said Catsimatidis. “Our morning show is available for our fans to watch, as well as listen, and we’ve hosted live broadcast events such as a mayoral primary debate and special 9/11 programming that included the leaders of New York then and now.”
