Rachel Maddow will be stepping down from her daily show as her new contract with MSNBC has her hosting a weekly program and participating in other projects within NBC Universal.
As a result, MSNBC President Rashida Jones has to figure out what’s next for the network’s lineup once Maddow steps away.
While speaking at The Information’s virtual WTF Summit, Jones touched on how they’re still in the process of figuring things out when it comes to the daily schedule without Maddow.
“There are a lot of things we are figuring out and what Rachel’s portfolio looks like and where it shows up and all of those things,” Jones said. “I don’t really have a concrete answer.”
Furthermore, Jones stated they’re not in a rush to put together a lineup when Maddow steps away from her daily show.
“It’s something we are working through. There’s no immediate rush here,” Jones said.
”Someone said to me today, ‘those who know don’t talk, and those who talk don’t know.’ While we figure out internally and with Rachel and the team how this all works, I expect the speculation to continue; I expect the rumors to continue. This comes with the territory.”
