WTOP’s Chris Roth, Investor Purchase WNAV From Pat Sajak

WTOP Production Direction Chris Roth and another investor have purchased Annapolis, Maryland radio station WNAV from Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak.

Roth announced the news on his Facebook page Friday. According to WTOP, Sajak sold the station for $1,000.

Sajak has owned WNAV for two decades and over that period the station’s value has depreciated greatly. There are many challenges ahead for the new ownership group including finding a new location for the station which sits on land owned by Sajak.

“We will remain a local station, with local news and traffic,” Roth told WTOP. “We will definitely keep our relationship with the Naval Academy. Without the Naval Academy, there is no NAV.”

There is also a question of what to do with the roughly two dozen part and full-time employees who work at the station. Roth told WTOP that there will be cuts.

Sajak has agreed to help the new ownership group with relocation costs. WNAV has been in the same building since it first went on the air in 1949.
