9 Sportsbooks Get New York Sports Betting Licenses

It won’t be cheap to take mobile sports bets in New York state but with so many people living there, operators can justify the 51% tax rate. That is why so many companies applied for licenses to operate in the state. On Monday, New York announced who it is letting take bets.

New York selected two winning bids with a total of nine books receiving licenses. The bid from FanDuel was accepted and also included BallyBet, BetMGM, and DraftKings. The other accepted bid came from Kambi and will award licenses to Caesars Sportsbook, PointsBet, Resorts World, Rush Street Interactive, and WynnBET. Barstool, Fanatics, bet365, FOXBet, and theSCORE Bet were all left on the outside looking in.

“New Yorkers represent a significant portion of the Wynn Las Vegas and Encore Boston Harbor databases, and we look forward to giving those customers more ways to earn and use Wynn Rewards,” Craig Billings, CEO of Wynn Interactive, said in a statement. “We also look forward to meeting and engaging with new customers in the state via WynnBET.”

All of the licenses are awarded for a period of ten years.

Each sportsbook must complete a series of steps before launching. That can all be done on the book’s individual timelines. It is expected that most mobile books will begin taking bets in New York in time for the Super Bowl.
