The judge in the Kyle Rittenhouse case scolded the media for its coverage of the trial and questioned whether he would allow cameras in the courtroom for future cases.
Kenosha County Judge Bruce Schroeder delivered a scathing rebuke of the media’s coverage Wednesday as jurors continue to deliberate the fate of Rittenhouse.
“I will tell you this, I will think long and hard about live television in a trial again next time, I don’t know,” Schroeder. “I’ve always been a firm believer in it, but when I see what has been done, it is really quite frightening. Frightening is the right word for it.”
He singled out the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, which published the views of legal experts who said it was odd that he had not ruled on the defense’s motion to dismiss the charges.
“When I talked about problems with the media when this trial started, that’s — we’re there, in part, because of grossly irresponsible handling of what comes out of this trial,” Schroeder said.
