The United States sees a surge in coronavirus cases throughout the country. As a result, companies are implementing policies to help limit the spread in their offices and workspaces.
Fox News employees in New York have only a few days to receive at least one shot of the COVID-19 vaccine. The Washington Post relayed a memo by the network to its staff saying they have until the 27th to receive at least one dose of the vaccine.
“All workers in NYC who perform in-person work at an office location, including Fox employees, must show proof of receiving at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine,” the memo said.
According to the new guideline, New York City-based staffers can no longer skip the vaccination requirement by offering a negative COVID-19 test. This news comes as a response to the mandate implemented by New York mayor Bill de Blasio.
“The timing and ramifications of this mandate are very unfortunate, but we must take timely actions to be compliant by 12/27,” the memo added. “This mandate by the Mayor prohibits unvaccinated employees from working at Fox New York offices as of 12/27.”
Furthermore, there’s some concern within the network that the disproportionate number of New York-based employees who are unvaccinated are on the technical side (lighting, prompter, audio).
As a result, there’s nervousness that this policy will affect the air-product if they’re not vaccinated by the deadline.
