Jan. 6th Committee Seeks Corporation From Sean Hannity

The anniversary of the January 6th attack on the US Capitol last year is right around the corner, and perhaps it’s because of that the committee investigating the incident sent a letter to Fox News’ Sean Hannity, asking for the anchor’s voluntary cooperation with its investigation.

According to the letter sent to Hannity, the cable news network host expressed concern about former President Donald Trump’s strategy and conduct before, during, and after the insurrection.

The committee notes that they received “dozens” of the anchor’s text messages sent to and from former Trump White House chief of staff Mark Meadows that indicate Hannity had “advance knowledge regarding President Trump’s and his legal team’s planning for January 6th.”

Hannity’s attorney, Jay Sekulow, spoke to CNN and did provide a comment on the matter, saying, “we are reviewing the committee’s letter and will respond as appropriate.”

Furthermore, the committee also states that they have in possession text messages from Hannity pushing against the plan to demand Congress to contest the certification of the election on January 6th and insisting Trump prepare for his exit from the White House.

Several news media members are commenting on the matter, including MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, whose remarks were relayed by CNN’s Brian Stelter

“We do not know if Mr. Hannity will respond to this request (…) it is interesting that they are appealing to his patriotism,” Maddow said. “All Americans would like to know what Mr. Hannity knew on Jan. 5…”
