Amazon is keen on bringing some serious star power next season when it takes over Thursday Night Football. It has been well-documented that both Al Michaels and Troy Aikman are on the company’s wishlist for the broadcast booth. Andrew Marchand is reporting that Amazon wants to turn some heads with its studio presentation too.
Marshawn Lynch is apparently the apple of Amazon’s eye right now. Marchand reports that the former All-Pro running back is not in line for a spot in the booth. Amazon views him as a difference maker in the studio and could have him conducting interviews and hosting pre-taped segments that show off his sense of humor.
Despite dropping an F-bomb during his appearance on the Manningcast earlier this season, Lynch is viewed as a home run hire by Amazon executives.
Thursday Night Football will become the first ever season-long package of digital-exclusive games next season. It makes sense that Amazon wants to bring in star power while also innovating.
Marshawn Lynch could be free to use whatever language he wants on streaming games. While it likely isn’t something the NFL wants to see every week, it is content Amazon could provide that traditional networks could not.
