Chris Nilan played 13 seasons in the NHL. He spent a lot of time in the penalty box as an enforcer during stops in Montreal, Boston and New York. Most Canadian sports fans these days know him for his sports radio career, which came to an abrupt end last week.
Nilan tweeted that he has been fired by Bell Media for refusing the Covid-19 vaccine. He requested a medical exemption from his bosses at Montreal’s TSN 690, but was denied. In his note, Nilan says he elected not to receive the vaccine after consulting his doctor.
He shared the news on Twitter Tuesday morning that his contract had been terminated.
TSN 690 had Nilan in mid days hosting a show called Off The Cuff. The station and Bell Media management declined to comment on Nilan’s termination or the station’s future plans for the timeslot.
