Would the head coach that just won the Super Bowl walk away from the NFL before he even turns 37 years old? It is something that has been debated a lot regarding Sean McVay, and the report is that if he does decide to leave the Rams, ESPN would be ready to offer him big money to join its Monday Night Football booth.
It’s a scenario Shan and RJ discussed Tuesday morning on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas. Shan Shariff believes that Sean McVay could be a star behind the mic.
“Now, this guy, I believe, would be an absolute stud in the booth,” Shariff said of McVay. “I believe he would even be better than Sean Payton.”
Sean Payton has also been mentioned as an object of desire for broadcast networks. The former Saints coach is reportedly a candidate to join Joe Buck on FOX if Troy Aikman follows Thursday Night Football to Amazon.
Rather than an endless party, the Los Angeles Rams are headed into an offseason filled with uncertainty. Aaron Donald is reportedly contemplating retirement. Odell Beckham Jr. is likely going to miss a large chunk of time after tearing his ACL during the Super Bowl. Could they lose their coach too?
Shan Shariff pointed out that the Dallas Cowboys, Arizona Cardinals, and Los Angeles Rams are the only NFC playoff teams you could reasonably expect to be back next season given the expected turnover elsewhere in the conference.
“We may be able to bump the Rams down in that conversation if Sean McVay chooses to walk away,” Shariff said.
Shariff’s partner RJ Choppy agreed that McVay could be a good addition to any broadcast booth. He said that McVay is an egomaniac “and they love to be on camera”.
For the record, Sean McVay told Ian Rapoport that he is committed to coaching the Rams and said that he intends to be back in Los Angeles for the 2022 season.
Must be nice for your staff to be constantly carrying water for Audacy’s sports radio stations. Half of your site’s articles are nothing more than recaps of WFAN, WIP and other stations with the Audacy family. This is getting ridiculous…
