Super Bowl LVI Tops 100 Million Viewers

NBC and the NFL have to be happy with the numbers coming in for Super Bowl LVI. The league saw 9-digits return for the viewership numbers of its championship game this year after a major fall-off in Super Bowl LV.

While the NBC audience fell just short of 100 million, Telemundo’s Spanish telecast delivered an additional 1.03 million viewers. That brings the total number of people watching Super Bowl LVI on linear TV to 100.21 million.

Los Angeles pulled off the victory in a much closer contest than last season. Add to that the fact that more parties were likely thrown in 2022 than in 2021, and it is the perfect recipe for a bounceback after CBS was only able to secure a little over 96 million total viewers for Super Bowl LV.

Super Bowl LVI is the most-watched broadcast of the last two years. There is still a long way to go before the Super Bowl catches back up to its pre-pandemic numbers though. Super Bowl LIV, one of the last major sporting events played before the Covid-19 pandemic came to America, scored more than 113 million viewers.
