Boston area listeners of “Morning Edition” on News/Talk pubcaster WGBH-FM (89.7) would have noticed a change to their show. Paris Alston and Jeremy Siegel, the morning program’s new host, want to offer a reimagined version of the morning staple with a contemporary vibe.
The show offers new segments such as “What’s on Tap,” a look at what’s coming each day, and “Spill the T,” focusing on transportation in Massachusetts through conversations with commuters.
“Our audiences have told us that mornings matter most when it comes to news, [as] this is when people seek out the information they need to get them going and set the tone for the day ahead,” GBH General Manager of News Pam Johnston said, per Inside Radio.
“Paris and Jeremy have the intelligence, energy, and authenticity we need to start our mornings right. I know local audiences will relate to their informative and dynamic style.”
Alston and Siegel put listeners into the center of stories, adding local context and depth, focusing on content geared to Boston-area listeners. The duo also plans to engage with their audience throughout the day on social media with a new weekly newsletter, “The Wake Up.”
