Could White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki be headed to a major cable news network?
According to Puck, Psaki is being “feverishly courted by CNN and MSNBC.” Those networks are currently undergoing major changes from the top down.
Earlier this month, former CNN President Jeff Zucker abruptly resigned amid the admission of his ongoing relationship with former CNN Chief Marketing Officer Allison Gollust who also resigned because of the controversy.
Month’s earlier, one of CNN’s biggest stars, Chris Cuomo, was fired after it was revealed that he attempted to use his journalistic influence to interfere with former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s ongoing sexual misconduct case.
Similarly, MSNBC is in a state of transition with uncertainty swirling around Rachel Maddow. According to the report, top brass from both networks have visited Washington D.C. over the past few weeks to gauge a response from Jen Psaki.
“NBC News Chairman Cesar Conde and MSNBC President Rashida Jones made a similar pilgrimage to Washington to meet with the very same talent, in the hopes that she might one day join their networks in a flagship role,” the report said.
Psaki would not be the first former White House communications staff member to be plucked from the podium by cable news network executives.
George Stephanopolous, Nicolle Wallace, and Kayleigh McEnany have all made similar transitions to the news desk. “Psaki wants to be on TV, to be sure, but the industry needs her even more,” the report concluded.
