Meadowlark Media is adding to its podcast catalog, partnering with NBA players Andre Iguodala and Evan Turner for a new content venture called New Amendment.
The first project from New Amendment will be a podcast titled Point Forward, which debuts March 8 on major podcast platforms including Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
Co-hosted by Iguodala and Turner, the weekly podcast will feature the longtime friends and former teammates on the Philadelphia 76ers providing their views and insights on a variety of topics, including sports headlines, tech innovations, internet memes, and book reviews. The two will interview athletes, entrepreneurs, musicians, and authors on the chosen subject.
“My mind is with Evan’s mind and we think similarly,” said Iguodala in Meadowlark’s announcement. “The focus of the Point Forward narrative is to expand the conversation beyond basketball. Partnering with Meadowlark allows us a creative space to own and do just that.”
The first episode, now available, discusses Kyrie Irving’s impact and how many true superstars there are in the NBA and athletes taking Bitcoin salaries, with Iguodala’s Golden State Warriors teammate Steph Curry joining the show to talk about his career.
“Andre is like my big brother,” Turner added. “On Point Forward, we are allowed to speak our minds and break everything down. We will be adding new perspectives to the usual athlete conversation.”
Under the partnership with Meadowlark, Iguodala and Turner will have a first-look deal to develop, produce, and distribute content. It’s the same sort of arrangement Backstage Media, headed by John Marvel and Mike Silver, has with the company.
Meadowlark today announced a joint venture with Andre Iguodala and Evan Turner to co-develop entertainment projects under the banner New Amendment. The team will debut its first project, Point Forward, a podcast co-hosted by the former Philadelphia 76ers teammates and longtime friends. Under this model, Iguodala and Turner will have a first-look with Meadowlark to develop, produce and distribute content.
Point Forward will be produced by Carl Scott, Meadowlark Media’s executive director of audio.
“It’s an incredible opportunity to work with Andre and Evan on building this podcast,” said Scott. “We recognize the power athletes wield in controlling their own narratives and wanted to create a model in which we could provide a platform for their voices and the opportunity to fulfill their creative ambitions.”
