Jeff Zucker resigned as CNN President last month, and Deadline provided the latest on the legal side regarding what the company has to pay their former executive. Zucker signed a deal with WarnerMedia to finalize his exit.
According to the report, WarnerMedia will make a one-time payment of around $10-million to Zucker. Signing this allows for Zucker to move on to the next phase of his career. Furthermore, he has waived any future right or intention to pursue litigation against CNN.
The former CNN president departed the cable news channel after revealing that he’s in a consensual relationship with fellow executive PR and marketing chief Allison Gollust and failed to disclose it.
In the aftermath of Gollust’s exit, the former CNN executive is also being paid $1 million by WarnerMedia as part of the schism. With both these resolutions, all parties can prepare for the next phase of their career and put this situation to rest.
Like Zucker, CNN is also ready to move on. They’ve already appointed a new president in Chris Licht, who will be taking over the role in May.
Licht will bring more than 20 years of experience in the television news business upon taking his new role with CNN and currently acts as the EVP of special programming at CBS and executive producer and showrunner for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
