Fox News warzone cameraman Pierre Zakrzewski was killed in Horenka, Ukraine while newsgathering with Benjamin Hall on Monday.

According to a memo obtained by Barrett News Media, a vehicle occupied by Zakrzewski and Hall was struck by incoming fire. He had been working in Ukraine since February.

“Pierre was a constant in all of our international coverage,” Jay Wallace, President and Executive Editor Fox News Media. “I, like countless others, always felt a sense of reassurance when arriving on the scene and seeing him with a camera in hand.”

Over the past three days, at least three reporters have been injured while covering the war. Zakrzewski becomes the second member of the media to be killed in Ukraine joining former New York Times contributor Brent Renaud who was killed in Irpin, Ukraine earlier this week.

“We extend our deepest condolences to Pierre’s wife Michelle and family – please keep them in all of our prayers,” said Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott. “Please continue to pray for Benjamin Hall, who remains hospitalized in Ukraine.”

“Today is a heartbreaking day for Fox News Media and all journalists risking their lives to deliver the news,” added Scott.

Last year, Zakrzewski played a key role in getting Fox News freelance associates and their families out of Afghanistan. In December, he was awarded the “Unsung Hero” award at the network’s annual employee Spotlight Awards.
