It’s been a couple of months since Julie Mann, the former managing editor of Audacy’s WBBM Newsradio 780AM in Chicago, resigned. According to a report, Mann wanted to be close to family, leading to her decision back in December.
However, a few months removed, the radio station has decided to fill the void on an interim basis as WBBM Newsradio announced the promotion of morning editor Zac Weber to broadcast managing editor.
“Zac has done a tremendous job as morning editor, and there’s no question his skills of scouring the world for the latest news early each morning will pay off for all of us,” Ron Gleason, brand manager and news director of WBBM Newsradio, told staffers in an email relayed by Roger Feder.
Weber joined WBBM Newsradio as a part-time assistant producer in 2013. He then moved up from his position to writer/editor before being named morning editor in 2017.
There are no further details on how long the interim label will be on Weber for this position or whether the station plans to name another permanent replacement for Mann.
