PBS in Austin Taps Luis Patiño to Serve as its CEO

Austin PBS in Texas has a new CEO as the television has appointed former president and GM for Univision Media Group, Luis Patiño, as CEO. Patiño is succeeding Bill Stotesbery, who retired from his position last year, and COO Lori Bolding acted as acting CEO during the transition.

Patiño’s prior positions at Univision include SVP, VP, and national sales manager. He also worked for Entravision Communications, an affiliate of Univision.

“I am so impressed with Luis’ experience and deep involvement with empowering and educating communities through media,” said Austin PBS Board Chair Ryan Nixon in a news release

“As a leader who is intentional about diversity, community, and challenging the status quo, we could not be more excited to have him join the Austin PBS team as our new CEO.”

Patiño’s appointment is a homecoming as he was on the Austin PBS board between 2013 and 2015. As CEO, Patiño will guide the station’s “Moving Forward” capital drive, which Stotesbery began in 2018.

“I believe in the power of public media, which harnesses opportunities for more diversity, strategic thought, education, and community engagement,” Patiño said.
