Despite pressure to change course from the cable news channel and its supporters, DirecTV plans to drop One America News Network from its schedule on Tuesday, per Bloomberg.
The satellite company has been informing customers that it will no longer carry OAN or AWE, a high-end lifestyle channel also owned by Herring Networks Inc., after April 4. Over the past few weeks, OAN and its supporters have pressured DirecTV to keep the network.
In March, Herring Networks filed a lawsuit against AT&T and DirecTV, accusing them of a breach of contract. In the claim, Herring stated that “the economic consequences of losing carriage with DirecTV could be devastating to OAN.”
Also, Republican attorneys general in six states sent a letter to DirecTV, expressing that the company was bending to intimidation from “powerful left-wing voices.” Former President Donald Trump has been vocal about a boycott of DirecTV if it drops OAN, which was a supporter of his administration.
Despite dropping OAN, DirecTV will begin providing another conservative option, Fox Nation, a subscription streaming app for Fox News fans.
