No matter how you feel about the state of our ongoing struggle with Covid-19, any chance to feel a little bit closer to normal is welcome. Monday, a federal judge in Florida struck down the CDC’s mask mandate in airports and on planes. The Pat McAfee Show thought that was worth celebrating.
After reading a tweet from the account @Breaking911 announcing the news on his SiriusXM and YouTube show, McAfee declared “we beat f***ing Covid!”. Then he and his crew chanted and danced for a solid 35 seconds.
Co-host AJ Hawk, who regularly joins the show virtually from his home, sat still with a smile on his face while the party commenced. He sipped from his water bottle as Pat McAfee did the running man.
“This is a very big step in the process,” declared Hawk.
McAfee offered a “shaht aht” to Judge Kathryn Kimball Mizell, who struck down the mask mandate, declaring that the CDC does not have the legal authority to extend or impose the order.
The tweet announcing the judge’s decision appeared on the screen for a second time. McAfee was more subdued.
“I don’t got enough juice to do it again, but we did it man,” he said, clearly exhausted from the dancing.
Projecting forward, McAfee says he is excited for the United States to go “all the way back to the days of Joe Exotic and the Tiger King.”
