The defamation trial that Johnny Depp has against his ex-wife Amber Heard remains ongoing. SiriusXM Howard Stern chimed in with his opinion regarding why television cameras are in the courtroom.
Stern believes Depp wanted the trial televised because the actor is a “narcissist,” desperately craving attention. Furthermore, the radio host went on to say that by having the cameras there, the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star could persuade the court of public opinion.
“The reason I think he wanted that on — he wanted that televised is that’s what narcissists do,” Stern said. “They think they can talk their way out of everything.”
“On the narcissism scale, I think Johnny Depp is a huge narcissist — and what I mean by that is, he figured, ‘I’ll put this on TV. And because I’m so persuasive and I’m so smart, and I’m such a wonderful guy.’”
Furthermore, the radio host continued saying that if Depp wanted to save his career, he would have kept the cameras out of the courtroom throughout the trial. However, Stern adds that the actor’s narcissism played a role in having them there.
“But that’s what narcissists do. ‘I will charm the pants off of America at the trial.’ No, you won’t! This will not go well,” Stern said. “It’s not going well for you; it’s not going well for her. It’s not going well for anybody. You sound like two battling children.”
“It’s just coming off really badly. Johnny Depp testified in court for two days last week. Two days. Think about that; lots of room to embarrass yourself,” Stern continued. “Two full fu**ing days! First of all, his difficulty in speaking the English language is fantastic!”
