“The View” is reacting to news of the leaked draft opinion suggesting that the U.S. Supreme Court is poised to overturn Roe v. Wade. Tuesday, Chief Justice John Roberts confirmed the authenticity of the documents published by Politico.
According to The Wrap, co-host Joy Behar said she learned about the news after receiving a barrage of text messages from her friends late Monday night.
“I’d like to point out that during those hearings, they must — all these people that are voting to overturn this have lied. Didn’t they lie?” said Behar.
Behar said she fears if the Supreme Court does overturn the landmark abortion decision that other major issues will soon be brought to the forefront.
“My worry is that this is just the beginning. Next, they’ll go after gay marriage and maybe … Brown vs. Board of Education? They already eroded our voting rights a little bit. So, I see fascism down the line here,” she said.
Meanwhile, Justice Robert has ordered an investigation into the origins of the leak.
“To the extent, this betrayal of the confidences of the Court was intended to undermine the integrity of our operations, it will not succeed. The work of the Court will not be affected in any way,” Roberts declared.
