There’s a shakeup at The Walt Disney Company where Dana Walden replaces her boss Peter Rice as Chairman, Disney General Entertainment Content. Furthermore, Rice will no longer remain with the company.
Meanwhile, Walden will become Disney’s No. 1 content executive, leading all original news and entertainment programming for Disney’s streaming platforms and cable and broadcast networks, which includes ABC News.
“Dana is a dynamic, collaborative leader and cultural force who in just three years has transformed our television business into a content powerhouse that consistently delivers the entertainment audiences crave,” Disney CEO Bob Chapek said, per TV Newser.
“… She and Peter have worked closely together for years to create the best programming in the industry, and I can think of no one better than Dana to lead Disney General Entertainment to even greater heights.”
Walden joined Disney in 2019 with the company’s $73 billion acquisition of 21st Century Fox, where she served as Fox TV group chairman.
“It is an incredible honor to be asked to lead this amazingly talented team—they are truly the absolute best in every respect—and I am grateful to Bob for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” Walden said.
