Orlando’s WDBO Is Delisted From the April PPM Ratings

Orlando’s News & Talk Station WDBO has been delisted from the April PPM ratings after Nielsen determined that the station violated its Encoding and Rating Distortion Policies.

According to Inside Radio, PPM codes for WDBO-AM were retransmitted on WPYO-FM (95.3) from April 2-April 29. According to the audience measurement company, PPM codes are a key part of a station’s identity in the PPM system. Each station’s PPM codes are unique. The unique nature of PPM codes helps assure we assign listening credit to the appropriate station

Nielsen said during the period of April 2-April 29 the authorized code of WPYO-FM was not transmitting on the 95.3 signal. A client notice triggered the notice on Tuesday.

“During that period, the authorized code of WPYO-FM was not transmitting on the 95.3 signal,” the notice read. “As a result, listeners tuned to 95.3 were exposed to WDBO-AM’s PPM codes and not the appropriate code for WPYO-FM.”

The Spanish Broadcasting System assumed ownership of WPYO-FM on Friday, April 29th and began broadcasting a Spanish Tropical format. Nielsen said WPYO has been properly encoded since that time.

Cox Media Group-owned WDBO will not be included in the April ratings period, WYPO will get credit for the only two days properly coded (Thursday, March 31st and Friday, April 1st).
