More changes are coming to CNN as Variety reports that Rebecca Kutler, a longtime CNN talent and development executive, is leaving the network. Kutler most recently served as the senior vice president and head of programming for CNN+.
Furthermore, the executive had a hand in the success of anchors and contributors, including Abby Phillip and Van Jones since she oversaw the analysts, contributors, and commentators for CNN, a position she has held since 2015.
During Kutler’s time at the company, she worked as an executive producer for Don Lemon and John King. She also hired Phillip and Andrew McCabe while also playing a role in landing Chris Wallace, Audie Cornish, and Kasie Hunt to CNN as part of the CNN+ launch.
“Her departure was announced at a morning editorial meeting on Thursday, according to three people familiar with the matter. CNN declined to comment,” Variety wrote.
The decision for Kutler to exit is a move that is lifting eyebrows among some of the Warner Bros. Discovery outlet’s group of journalists.
