Howard Stern: Golfers Joining the LIV Tour Are “Selling Out”

SiriusXM’s Howard Stern criticized one of golf’s biggest stars for “selling out” by joining the Saudi Arabian-funded LIV tour.

LIV has attracted some of golf’s biggest names, including Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, and Sergio Garcia. The tour also offered Patrick Reed and Bryson DeChambeau worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

According to the New York Post, Stern took aim at Mickelson, specifically for joining the LIV Tour. Mickelson was subsequently suspended for his decision to join the tournament.

“They’re real pieces of s**t, and they got a lot of money, so it allows them to be pieces of s**t on a big level,” Stern said. “Normally, if they didn’t have oil there, you wouldn’t hear from these guys; you’d never know what they believe; they’d be talking to a sheep and a camel.”

LIV is backed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund. The country’s crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman, chairs the fund. According to UVA Today, A U.S. intelligence report named bin Salman was responsible for ordering the assassination of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in 2018.

“They’re selling out,” added Stern.
