Shane Backler Leaves WSB for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Shane Backler spent the past 25 years in radio but is now moving over to the newspaper side as he exits news-talk WSB to its Cox Enterprises sister newspaper, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Beckler will join as the newsroom’s senior audio producer and will be responsible for producing current podcasts like the AJC’s Breakdown and Politically Georgia podcasts, along with other audio projects.

“Shane is a producer in the truest sense of the word,” AJC Podcast Manager Jay Black said, per Inside Radio

“He knows how to push the right buttons to get the best out of talent and push them to a level they didn’t know they had. Everyone from a seasoned broadcaster to a rookie podcaster will be better working with Shane.”

Backler has been at WSB since 2006, working in various roles, including as Executive Producer of “The Herman Cain Show” and helping launch Erick Erickson’s radio show when Hermain Cain ran for office in 2012.

“Most of the hosts I’ve worked with never had any experience behind a microphone,” Backler said in a statement.

“I start from the ground up, getting hosts comfortable, and giving them direction and guidance so they’d be able to tell stories, deliver analysis, and present their opinions with confidence.”
