Austin Gets 3rd Sports Station on 102.7 FM

A third sports station is now available in Austin.

Waterloo Media has launched ESPN 102.7. It’s the second time during the calendar year the station has flipped formats. Mega 102.7, a Spanish language pop station, previously aired on the translator.

ESPN 102.7 joins 104.9 The Horn and 1300 The Zone as sports offerings in the Texas capital. During the June ratings period, 104.9 The Horn (KTXX) garnered a 1.8 share in the market, while 1300 The Zone (KVET-AM) was an 0.3 share.

According to a post on the station’s newly created Facebook page, the station will air Greeny with Mike Greenberg, and The Paul Finebaum Show, while also offering local voices Jason Dick, CJ Morgan, Ed Clements, and B-Doe.

All four of the local talents mentioned are already employed by Waterloo Media. Dick and Morgan are both on the company’s alternative station, 101X. Clements and B-Doe are already doing a sports talk show in afternoon drive on the company’s local news talk station KLBJ.
