Mike Francesa Congratulates Chris Russo, Suzyn Waldman & Jeff Smulyan On Hall Of Fame Selections

The announcement of the 2022 Radio Hall of Fame inductees was a big day for WFAN. Former host Chris “Mad Dog” Russo, Yankees analyst and former WFAN update anchor Suzyn Waldman, and WFAN founder Jeff Smulyan were all selected as honorees.

2018 Radio Hall of Fame inductee and former WFAN host Mike Francesa took to Twitter to congratulate his former co-workers for earning the prestigious honor.

Francesa and Russo spent nearly two decades as sports talk radio kings in the nation’s biggest market, as Mike and The Mad Dog rose to cult-like status. The pair won the 2000 Marconi Award for Major Market Personality of the Year, the first time a sports-talk show had garnered the honor.

Russo recently pointed to a specific moment in 1994 that springboarded the duo into the spotlight.

Francesa also had well wishes for Smulyan, who sold WFAN in 1991 for a then record-breaking $70 million.
