Mika Brzezinski: Kansas’ Abortion Voting Shows Women Fighting for Rights

There’s plenty of reaction following the decision voters in Kansas made to protect abortion rights in the state.

During Wednesday’s edition of “Morning Joe,” co-host Mika Brzezinski stated that she was surprised by the outcome but then added not so much, considering it revolves around women’s rights.

Brzezinski said that women would not remain silent as certain rights such as abortion are being taken away at the national level and in some states which have restricted or banned the service.

“For the midterms, I’ll say this just as the woman on the set: Watch out,” Brzezinski told her co-hosts, Joe Scarborough and Willie Geist. “I’m surprised by Kansas, and I’m not surprised.”

“Women are not going to stand by idly and say, ‘Yeah, you can take away our rights. You can take away our personal rights; you can take away our sisters’ rights; you can take away our daughter’s rights.’ Forget it.”

After the Supreme Court opted to overturn Roe v. Wade, the power over abortion rights went back to the states, and Kansas was the first to vote on the issue since the decision, and they won’t be the last.
