InfoWars’ Alex Jones has been in court this week to decide the damages in one of the host’s three lawsuits from Sandy Hook families. On Thursday, a jury determined Jones must pay $4.1 million in compensatory damages, per Mediaite.
Jones will pay the amount to the parents of 6-year-old Jesse Lewis, who was murdered in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. The jury’s decision is another win for the victims’ families after Jones has stated the massacre was a hoax.
“I can’t even describe the last nine and a half years, the living hell that I and others have had to endure because of the recklessness and negligence of Alex Jones,” Neil Heslin said following the verdict.
“It’s fear for your life,” Scarlett Lewis said. “You don’t know what they were going to do.”
Judge Maya Guerra Gamble oversaw the trial and asked Jones what amount of damages the InfoWars host viewed as fair; Jones stated anything more than $2 million would plunge the company.
Despite this verdict, Jones isn’t done with his court appearances as he has two more defamation trials, one in Austin and another in Connecticut.
