A new book, Broken News: Why the Media Rage Machine Divides America and How to Fight Back, written by former Fox News political editor Chris Stirewalt reportedly tells the story of what really happened during his tenure with the network.
Sitrewalt was a fixture behind the scenes for the network’s Decision Desk, and pushed to be the first outlet to call the 2020 President race for Joe Biden, which he says led to his firing.
“I got canned after very vocal and very online viewers — including the then-president of the United States — became furious when our Decision Desk was the first to project that Joe Biden would win the former G.O.P. stronghold of Arizona in 2020,” Stirewalt wrote, according to an excerpt released by Jeremy W. Peters of The New York Times.
Fox News has insisted Stirewalt was laid off as a realignment inside the organization, an insinuation Stirewalt has rejected several times. He has since joined NewsNation as its political editor.
Stirewalt worked at Fox News for 11 years, and claimed since 2016 the network has pushed “black-helicopter-level paranoia and hatred” on an increasingly radical conservative population.
