The Dallas Cowboys are known as America’s Team. Some refer to the moniker seriously, while others use it sarcastically. Nonetheless, the team generates conversation, but Pardon The Interruption co-host Tony Kornheiser has had enough of the Cowboys through week one of the NFL season.
After Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott injured his thumb during the season opening loss Sunday, many have considered any playoff chances now gone, but Kornheiser contended the Cowboys will still be bantered about even in Prescott’s absence.
“It’s the same with Dallas every year. All the time,” Kornheiser said. “It never stops! The last two years! On Get Up!, on First Take, ‘Will Dak get his money? Will Ezekiel Elliot get enough carries? When will they fire Mike McCarthy?’ Now we’re doing it again! And if Dak Prescott gets back at a reasonable time, all you’re gonna hear is this: ‘Will Dak get them to the playoffs?’ Mike, they have — and I know you agree with this — a disproportionate amount of coverage for a team that is disappointing on a regular basis. So spare me! Spare me!”
Co-host Michael Wilbon agreed during Kornheiser’s take, shouting “Yes!” several times before saying “They’re not as important as the coverage would suggest…even though we just led with it,” Wilbon joked.
