Greta Van Susteren: ‘Roger Ailes Never Laid Off One Person’

CNN has reportedly laid off several employees in their audio division, and Newsmax host Greta Van Susteren commented on the reduction by pointing to one of her old bosses.

“Roger Ailes never laid off one person in 14 (years) I was there, including 2008,” Van Susteren tweeted of the disgraced former Fox News CEO. The 2008 reference is in regards to the economic and financial crisis.

“He said he remembered as a child that his father was laid off and that his father was so upset,” Van Susteren continued of Ailes.

The former Fox News CEO resigned in 2016 after accusations of sexual harassment from several staffers. He received $65 million in an exit agreement. Ailes died in 2017 at the age of 77.

Van Susteren later tweeted “it is very difficult, financially and self esteem, to be laid off. And in my opinion it is mostly because the managers didn’t manage the company well.”

A CNN spokesperson told Bloomberg the company has “refined our strategy to focus our resources more specifically” in the podcast and audio space. Warner Brothers is reportedly working on a $3 billion cost saving measure since its April merger with Discovery.
