Comedy Central Replacing Trevor Noah with Duos, Trios Hosts

Trevor Noah will officially leave “The Daily Show” on Dec. 8 and now the next question is, where does the program go from there?

When Jon Stewart left the comedy news show six years ago, Noah was ready to replace him.

Now with Noah exiting from the same role, Deadline’s Peter White reported on Tuesday that Comedy Central is considering hosting duos and trios as it looks to replace the comedian behind the desk.

“One suggestion is that Noah will be replaced by a committee of hosts,” White wrote. “We hear that a number of the correspondents are in consideration for the positions.

“For instance, one possibility is that Roy Wood Jr. and Desi Lydic could co-host. The show’s other correspondents include Ronny Chieng, Michael Kosta and Dulcé Sloan as well as gonzo reporter Jordan Klepper.”

Comedy Central eyes something similar to what “Saturday Night Live” does with their “Weekend Update” segment, which sees Colin Jost and Michael Che provide the news. Additionally, it’s a bit that’s been a mainstay on the comedy show for years.

Noah recently appeared on “The Tonight Show” and explained to host Jimmy Fallon why he felt it was the right time to exit the Comedy Central show.

“Leave while it’s still good, leave when you still love it, leave when you still have the energy to enjoy it,” Noah told Fallon. “I still have three months to have a ton of fun with everybody on the show, and I’m going to do that.”
