NBC News said last week that it retracted a report about the Paul Pelosi attack because it “didn’t meet reporting standards.”
Syndicated radio host Joe Pags said the network had other motivations. On Friday, he said the mainstream media hasn’t been honest about the attack since day one.
“Let me see how clear I can make this,” Pags said. “You don’t air a story until a producer looks at it first, executive producer looks at it first, the anchor sees the story. Generally speaking, in a newsroom that wants to uphold a high level of journalism, they’re going to make sure somebody’s eyes see it.”
According to CNN, the reporter at the center of the controversy is Emmy award-winner Miguel Almaguer
A network source told CNN it pulled the segment after the source of the report’s information was found to be unreliable.
“You think this guy just filed a report and they said press play?” Pags said. “Somebody saw it before. Somebody said go with it. Afterward, they made him (Almaguer) the scapegoat and said it wasn’t a high standard of journalism.”
The network told CNN that Almageur’s reporting made assertions that were attributed to unnamed sources and appeared to raise questions about the attack.
