Tiffany Cross ‘Disheartened’ By MSNBC Decision to Part Ways

Tiffany Cross would be preparing this weekend for a set of shows for “The Cross Connection”; however, after Friday’s news of MSNBC opting not to renew her contract, she instead prepared an exit statement.

Late Friday, Cross wrote a statement confirming her exit from MSNBC, saying the program “ended abruptly, surprising many of us.”

“I am disheartened to learn of MSNBC’s decision to cancel The Cross Connection, at such a crucial time—four days before the midterm elections,” Cross said in a statement published on Twitter.

Cross added that her “work is not done” following the cancellation of her show by MSNBC and promised to continue to “speak the truth.”

Variety reported that executives at MSNBC were growing concerned about the anchor’s willingness to address comments made by cable-news hosts on other networks.

“From the beginning, we were intentional about centering communities of color, elevating issues and voices often ignored by the mainstream media, and disrupting the echo chambers,” Cross added.

“It is my hope that the last two years at MSNBC have been disruptive and transformative, changing how politics are discussed and making policy more digestible.”
