The Manningcast welcomed several guests to last night’s alternate broadcast, and WGR morning host Jeremy White pointed out a slight shift in tone from the ESPN production that he enjoyed.
While discussing the guests on last night’s edition, White noted the appearance from Luke Bryan led to the Mannings teaching the game of football to both Bryan and the audience.
“I realized something along the way,” White said. Here’s Lamar. Handoff, option, mesh point plays, and every time there’s a play, Luke Bryan’s like ‘It’s an RPO, it’s an RPO, it’s an RPO’. And Eli says ‘Actually, Luke, that’s not an RPO’. And he explains the differences.”
White then said he appreciated how much the Mannings shared with the audience on how to tell if a play is a run-pass option or not.
“And I thought ‘Look at you guys teaching people watching this game’. All of the sudden it’s these teachable moments where you’re actually learning about the game. The idea that you can’t learn about the game with the Manningcast? Here’s Luke Bryan talking about an RPO like a million times before Eli stepped in.”
