Erick Erickson Gives Update on Wife’s Battle With Cancer

Analysis of the midterm elections dominated news/talk stations across the country Tuesday, but one prominent host had something much more important on his mind.

During a segment in the second hour of his show, syndicated host Erick Erickson paused and abruptly changed his monologue from analyzing midterm strategy to talking about his wife’s terminal cancer.

“Let me talk with you, not at you,” Erickson suddenly said, shifting his inflection. “I am getting overwhelmed with emails, phone calls, and text messages. Let me just say, I don’t know about my wife’s scans.”

Last year, Erickson wrote in the Northern Virginia Daily, that his wife was battling stage 4 lung cancer. Tuesday, he revealed to his audience a possible turning point in her treatment.

“My wife takes a pill every day, it serves as a type of chemo, it’s not real chemo, she has very weird reactions to it,” Erickson said. “This pill as I understand it, my wife’s cancer thrives on a protein that it makes proteins that it shouldn’t make and these tumors form all over her lungs.”

Erickson said the pill that his wife is taking stops the tumors from forming in her body but at some point, the pill will stop working.

“This pill works for two years, we are six years in,” he explained. “And the pill is still working. We don’t know when it will stop. In the first two years, we really didn’t have a lot of anxiety because the pill works for two years.”

Erickson told his audience that his stress levels were “through the roof” waiting to hear what the outcome of his wife’s visit to her doctor revealed.

“As soon as I know, I’ll let you know,” he added.
