The founding anchor of CNN’s “Reliable Sources,” Bernard Kalb, died on Sunday at the age of 100 in his North Bethesda, Maryland home.
Despite being 100, Kalb’s cause of death was due to complications from a recent fall, his younger brother, Marvin Kalb, told CNN.
“Bernard Kalb was an important figure in journalism, and his pioneering efforts to hold our profession to account are immeasurable. Everyone at CNN is sending our deep sympathies to his wife, children and the whole Kalb family,” CNN CEO Licht said.
Kalb hosted the show from 1992 to 1998 and the program went on for 30 years, but in 2022, CNN canceled “Reliable Sources” when it’s former host Brian Stelter was ousted as changes at the network were ongoing last year.
“We were so fortunate to have Bernie host Reliable Sources from its launch and during all those years,” former CNN executive vice president of news standards and practices Rick Davis said.
“We learned so much from him as he was a walking, talking history professor of journalism in the second half of the 21st century.”
